Monsoon workwear … what to wear this week

Monsoon workwear … hidden gems to try

I was recently asked to do an interview and collaboration with Monsoon, about what you should wear to an interview these days. They asked me to pick a couple of pieces from their Monsoon workwear collection and suggest how to style them. Being a bit of a fashion addict, once I had completed the interview (which you can read here… and another version with other stylists adding advice here) I began to poke around a bit more on their site.

I’d always had the Monsoon and Accessorize brands pegged as your ‘go-to’ place for a wedding outfit or party dress. All those sequins and embellished pieces winking at me from their storefront on my local high street belied the fact that they have a bang-on-trend Monsoon workwear collection, at a very purse friendly price point.

For the interview I picked these Kasuri tile print trousers, which reminded me of those cute cropped 1950’s pants which are perfect for spring. A little ankle flash and a pointy toe flat are all you need to finish the look.

Monsoon workwear … how I styled mine

For the working week or an interview, a sleek silhouette is always a winner. I styled my Kasuri trousers with a boxy half-sleeve top by Iris & Ink from The Outnet. This classic shaped top is hot for the spring – opt for one in a luxe silk or satin for extra ‘on-trend’ points.

Of course it depends on what you do for a living, but generally demure is a better call than daring when thinking about how to dress for work. A well cut blazer is a must for any office appropriate wardrobe. This Joseph one is on sale, again at The Outnet. I’m also loving metallic pointy flats for spring… these J.Crew numbers are right up my street.
