Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

If you’ve found yourself running around like a headless chicken this week trying to track down the perfect gift for your dear old Ma by Sunday, then panic not, I’ve put together this quick post on some Mother’s Day Gift Ideas which won’t have you looking like you’ve left the whole thing to the last minute. As Mother’s Day looms, I’m always the one in our house who takes on the mantle of finding something for the Grannies in our fam, if you’re in the same boat but looking to find something more than the usual box of chocs, I’ve tracked down some gifts which will keep on giving and last a little longer than a drizzly Mothering Sunday.

This post was partly inspired by my visit last week to the new Neom store in Guildford. I was kindly gifted a Wellbeing Spa Treatment in their new treatment rooms and whilst I was lying in a state of post-massage bliss, it struck me that this kind of treat was the one thing we hardly ever allow ourselves as women to indulge in. When was the last time any busy mum actually took time out for herself on any day of the week, let alone as I did on a Wednesday morning? But if you gift someone a glorious treat like this they are duty bound to take you up on it and enjoy the experience.

If spa life is not your mum’s bag, how about a little all year round bloom gifting? As Mother’s Day is traditionally about the flowers, these days thanks to flower subscription services there’s no reason why your mum can’t enjoy a floral treat all year round. Over the past few years, a bunch (sorry couldn’t resist) of flower subscription services have popped up, where you can order a well-curated bouquet of flowers which is delivered to your door along with instructions on how to display and care for them. There are letterbox sized deliveries which fit right through, yes you guessed it, your letterbox at Bloom & Wild right through to houseplant subscriptions at Sprout London.

Whilst on the subscription route, if your mum likes a great read then a subscription with Daunt Books is the way to go. You can order a bespoke book discovery subscription which sees the recipient receiving a monthly book in a genre that they love. (For more book recommendations visit our book review section here). Whilst The Perfume Society offers a VIP membership which provides a monthly download of the Scented Letter magazine along with a perfume discovery box to get your fragrance journey started.

Finally how about a membership to something your mum can get out and enjoy for the year. I’m a big fan of the V&A – have you seen the Dior exhibit yet? Otherwise, the Royal Academy of Arts is a delight all year round, as are the Tate galleries. If you’re not London based try the Art Fund National Art Pass which gets you free entry into over 240 museums, galleries and historic houses nationwide. My other go-to Mothers’ favourites include membership to the RHS for a snoop around some gorgeous gardens, or the National Trust for those rainy days snooping opportunities.

So that’s it, I’m off to sort the Grannies gifts out online and look like the perfect daughter/daughter-in-law this year. Here’s wishing all the mums out there a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. I’ll be spending mine on the side of a hockey pitch cheering on a teen and maybe treating myself to a glass of fizz at the end of the day.
