New spring and summer collections are beginning to land in stores this week, and one of the brands I’m interested in exploring more is new season Mint Velvet. Now I wouldn’t normally class myself as a Mint Velvet aficionado, as the label popped onto the fashion landscape while I was living in New York, so it wasn’t until I returned home that I began to see tons of my buddies sporting the label.

As far as I could tell it’s great for a relaxed take on a trend or two but the neutral palettes have not inspired me to throw myself into the fray. That is until I headed to their SS17 press day this year and was delighted to see some full on bursts of brights which are right up my street.

If brights aren’t your thing, then take a peek at some of their on-trend pieces which bolster up the collection. They’ve nailed details like statement sleeves, new season shirting and tie-waisted pants.

As well as warm weather rose gold metallics and seasonal stripes which will make perfect travel companions come the summer.

Famed for their clever asymmetric cut styles and the odd ruffle here and draping detail there, each season they manage to disguise body parts that those of us marching beyond the 40+ bracket will definitely love. I’m also keeping a weather eye out for their Mint collection – their premium range full of understated, sophisticated and modern pieces which this season have a knockout ruffle layer jumpsuit in, as well as a fab shocking pink bow back silk top which I think has my name on it.
