New York Fashion Week S/S12: Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman was all about ‘Mexican Mama’s’ – the fiery new custom prints that she showed were so eye popping that it was almost time to get the Tom Ford shades back on. That, mixed with the hugely Indian Summer temps today, lack of air con at the Lincoln Centre and the Mariachi Band (that were playing with gusto as we entered the presentation), gave a fab Latin American vibe that was slightly intoxicating.

Mixed prints, Carmen Miranda hair do’s, tribal accessories – oh my, it was laid on thick. Luckily Kelly Cutrone’s People’s Revolution PR company have been in these kind of trenches before – so, waters were duly shipped in for flaking models, fans were hastily placed in doorways and the Mariachi band played on.

I loved the jumpsuits, the seed beading and layered sheers – just a dam shame we have to get through winter before we can get our hands on this stuff….
