New York Fashion Week…Tadashi Shoji S/S14

You’ve got to love a Tadashi Shoji show at New York Fashion Week; although he’s renowned for evening wear, the Spring 14 show theme was Sweet Liberation.

The theme was embodied through breezy, carefree silhouettes; from lovely  tops that were cropped and geometrically shaped, to beautifully fitted tea dresses layered with sheer organza and lace details. His gowns were encrusted with clusters of crystals and finished with skirts made of the same silky organza and ostrich-feathered fringes.  The color palette included whispery tints of frosted jade, lavendar and ivory mixed with light pearl, lemon and pale pink. It was defintiely dressing up for grown ups.

Each piece made you feel as if you could be instantly transported to a more glamorous era, and you’d just popped off your yacht for dinner in Capri, Monte Carlo or Portofino.  The gowns, especially could have come straight out of Sophia Loren’s wardrobe, and made you feel like all eyes would be on you when you stepped into a room wearing one of them. Although the pieces were lavishly embellished, nothing was overdone or fussy, just beautiful.
