Nicole Farhi collapses into administration…say it ain’t so?

I was gutted to hear the news that Nicole Farhi went into administration on Wednesday this week. This eponymous Brit label was THE aspirational label to snag back in the day.

When I first started working in London’s Covent Garden, Nicole Farhi was the designer we all saved our hard earned meagre pay packets for. We felt like we’d hit paydirt when one of our gang figured out the intel to get us into the sample sales. There followed a couple of seasons where chunky knits and assymetric cut wool kilts from this label were the only thing you would catch me in.

More recently I popped into their Fall 13 press event and was blown away with the looks. For me Nicole Farhi has always been about the quality and the detail – take a peek at some of these gorgeous on trend pieces that hopefully will still make it to the store front.

This brand has not been headed up by Farhi since 2012, but had Joanna Sykes at the helm as the Creative Director, who had previously worked her magic on Aquascutum. However it had been through a fair few owners in recent years, and I for one am hoping someone will step up to the plate to save this fab label.
