Office to party wear: the basics
If you are beginning to fill up fast on party invites, yet still have to get the daily 9 to 5 grind in before you can head out, there are plenty of sensible options out there to help you segue easily from office to party. Thanks to the onset of the luxe fabrics trend over the past few seasons, those canny designers have come up with a ton of ways we can wear our luxe looks by day or night.
These days it’s just as acceptable to rock up to the office wearing a cute little jacquard or sequin skirt, as it is to wear winter white beyond Labor Day. It’s also jaw dropping when you begin to consider how many ways we can work a little more glam into our day wear. You can choose to pep up your look with anything from brocade to jacquard, sequins to statement knits, or even metallics and extra embellishments on pretty much anything. With a little savvy styling you will soon be taking a whole new approach to your evening wear and eyeing it up dressed down for daywear.
Office to party: How to wear it
The key to pulling off the office to party look perfectly in both social settings is all down to your pairings. If you are opting for a loud and in-your-face party outfit, pair it by day with simple neutrals to tone down the glam factor, and sensible flats in order to ensure you can get through the day. There’s nothing worse than having to wear your heels all day, only to find you’ve peeked too early and your feet are killing you by party time.
I’m loving the cute matchy-matchy 60’s sets that are in store right now. This fab winter floral jacquard print from classic Brit brand Jaeger comes in a boxy top and crop pant, but if you’re more of a dress kind of gal it also comes in a great shift dress. You have a double whammy on the trend front with this baby, as it’s working the luxe fabric look as well as nailing winter florals. I’m pairing mine with camel neutrals but also adding a few pops of petrol blue.
With easy switch ups like your day purse to a clutch and your flats to pumps for the party scene, you don’t have to waste valuable mingling time after work worrying about your evening outfit.
