Office to Party – what to wear this week

Office to Party – ’tis the season

The Holiday season is upon us and Christmas is soooo close you can just about smell those mince pies. But what’s a gal to do if she’s got a ton of parties to head to, but still has to head to the office each morning. Fear not, this season there are a slew of office to party pieces which are just perfect for pulling off Cinderella at the drop of a glass slipper.

For me a Christmas party season doesn’t have to be all about the dresses, but there should be an element of luxe involved. If you have a work day to get through before your party plans, then separates which can be dressed down by day but amped up once the sun goes down are the way to go.

These days it’s also totally acceptable on the sartorial front to flash some metallic or sequins for daywear, as long as you have the bling factor tempered with a little sensible dressing.

Office to Party … how to wear it.

If you do opt for sequins it’s easy to dumb the look down with winter woollies, so that your boss doesn’t head into humbug mode as soon as you get settled at your desk. I love this Topshop pencil skirt paired with this super snuggly J.Crew cashmere cardi which has a little sparkle to it. Add a Freda silk cami which doubles up as sexy-spaghetti-strap-top once the sun goes down, and you have nailed the smart but sassy vibe.

Nude heels are an all year round winner – these Kurt Geiger ones have elegance written all over them and are easy on the bank balance too.

I’m loving this season’s luxe belted coats – I yearn for Joseph or Maxmara, but sadly the budget won’t stretch – so this Karen Millen cutie completely fits the bill.

I’ve finished the look off with a J.Crew statement necklace and neat Reiss cross-body bag, leaving your hands free to work that tricky champagne and canapé balancing act.
