When it comes to New Year’s Eve party wear, the only rule to try to stick to is to make it bling-tastic. We headed to Topshop – one of my fave stores for on-trend items at purse friendly price points, to have a little dress-up fun whilst choosing some looks for the big party night.

What’s great about party dressing, is that you can mix up your textures and styles. I’m a great advocate of mashing up and layering a look, and these days it’s totally de rigeur to work your biker jacket with your sparkly skirt, or your faux fur jacket with your velvet party pants. The Topshop party edit has a little something for everyone. If you are an all out glamazon it’s easy to nail a look – we loved this awesome two-tone sequin dress which switches up it’s colours by merely brushing the sequins the opposite way – et voila! You have a whole new look – beats the old ‘take-a-change-of-outfit’ dilemma.

Bethan has a big party night planned back at her college at the University of Denver, so grabbing this gold va-va-voom Marilyn-Monroe-esque number from Topshop was a winning plan, and will be sure to make her stand out from the crowd.

New Year’s Eve is definitely one of those ‘push the boat out’ kind of evenings, so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try a few different styles. Having said that, there are also plenty of bedazzled accessories which could work equally well at primping up your look.
