Pastel leather skirt … what’s the story?
I’ve been debating whether to buy into the pastel leather skirt gig for the past few months, but when I spotted this pale grey Whistles number, it was definitely time to dive in.
A bunch of the high street stores have been creating ‘limited edition’ pieces over the past few seasons, where we’re basically talking slightly more high end high street. Pieces that you would probably hang on to for a couple of seasons, rather than toss in the clothing recycling dumpster as soon as you’ve (inevitably) just gone and shrunk them in the tumble dryer…or is it just me who falls into that trap on an ever increasing basis?
So what’s so great about the pastel leather skirt story? Well, first up, there are loads of leathers and faux leathers out there right now which are buttery soft. So wearing one of these cuties is a delight. You feel like it’s poperly moulding around your frame…in a good way… and not doing that awful leather trick of old, where it just seems to sit around your personage like a cardboard box – most unflattering! Secondly the colour ways are simply delicious – I’m loving all things pastel for spring. Even if you are still suffering the remnants of the polar vortex, throwing a little pastel into the mix certainly has you thinking spring is nearly here.
I paired my grey pastel leather skirt with this silky Sandro top from last season… but try this J.Crew silk dot blouse. I added another Whistles fave – this pony skin oversized navy clutch, but try this seriously fierce Ted Baker one which is similar here. A J.Crew statement necklace is always a fun option to throw in some added colour, if you’re sticking to a simple colour scheme with your outfit.
Oh, and here’s those infamous Sophia Webster heels again which I wore for the recent Buy My Wardrobe photoshoot. As you can see I’m busy working on my ‘cost per wear’ equation.
