The Hamptons

I’ve always had a hankering for a house in The Hamptons. I think my obsession started after watching Jack Nicholas and Diane Keaton in ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ and then serial stalking Gwyneth Paltrow talking about her aspirational summer hols working out with Tracy Anderson while simultaneously hitting every gourmet foodie joint on the island and still looking like a million dollars… what’s not to love about a vacation destination like that?

Luckily we also have some lovely mates who have a home in Southampton, so every now and then we are super blessed to get the opportunity to hang out with them and pretend that this is our actual real life.

The Hamptons are famed for wide open empty beaches, cute little villagey atmos hoods, and amazing dining spots. As long as you miss the rubbish traffic coming out on the weekends and aim to get there mid week, you can seriously holiday like a millionaire.

We dined at Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton one night which was uber cool…

But then the very next night watching the sun go down at André Balazs’s Sunset Beach Hotel on Shelter Island was equally amazing…

The Hamptons… what to pack

But what to wear when you get there? The vibe is uber beachy by day and a little dressy uppy by night… but don’t waste any sleep over your outfits. You could just as easily turn up in a pair of denim cut-offs and a silky top as you could a full on cocktail dress and still fit in.
