This London Fashion Week has been more fun than I remember, thanks to the pile of great British brands I’ve reconnected with during the shows. When living in New York I got sucked into a downtown way of dressing – piles of minimal pieces with assymetric twists here and there a la Helmut and 3.1 Phillip Lim. Back over here in Blighty I had completely missed the resurgence of classic traditional brands who are finding new ways to ignite their design ethos to offer fresh quirky looks.
Step forward Pringle of Scotland as one fine example. Without having been on my radar for the past 5 years, this brand has sneakily re-emerged as an on trend, wear-it-morning-noon-and-night, ‘go to’ supplier of stuff I love.
Of course the main basis is still knitwear, but this time around they’ve thrown in nifty sheer details using their signature diamond motif, which is a far more pleasing aesthetic than viewing it on my dad’s golf jumper.
The sheer panel idea moved on to dresses with panel details…
Whilst the aforementioned diamond motif has had a little makeover too.
Throw in some more sheer and a dash of textured knit…
A few rails of clothes for the punters to touch…
Some simple shoes (which I would like in every colour way)…
And you have yourselves an engaged audience…
