The Gherkin … dinner with the fam.
Last weekend we dolled ourselves up and headed up to The Gherkin to celebrate no.1 son’s 18th with the fam. We’d been lucky enough to sort a private room at the top of this landmark building thanks to some generous buddies, so we felt it only fitting to pull out all the stops and get a few generations of us all in one place – with one noted exception…Luci we missed you 🙁
It’s not often my teens are happy to pose in their glad rags, so whilst my old ma organized everyone, we had a few hasty snaps before hopping in the car to head up to town.
Sam wears J.Crew Ludlow suit jacket, Whistles heavy rib roll-neck, J.Crew pocket square. Max wears J.Crew gingham shirt and cardigan.
I seem to have been shrinking everything in the wash this month, which my daughter Millie is taking full advantage of, as all my swanky (but shrunken) knits are now the perfect size for her. In that good old teen spirit, she’s also got her eye on my Whistles faux fur coat...
Millie wears J.Crew cashmere knit, Whistles faux fur coat. My dress is Iris & Ink, necklace J.Crew, long sequin cardigan is Calypso.
It was a dreary old London night, but The Gherkin looked pretty damn fine up close and personal.
We zoomed on up to the top in a super-speedy lift (which had a few of us all feeling a tad giddy when we got to the top, so clearly had to settle the vertigo with a quick fizz sharpener…)
Those of us old enough headed on up to the tippety top where the bar offers panoramic London views.
Before dinner was served in the private dining room.
We had speeches after the delicious meal…
And then of course – more cake!
