What’s a girl to do with old heels that she doesn’t need anymore, yet wants to be eco-friendly in their disposal? If you ask set designer Nikole Nelson, who just created an amazing cover for the new Running with Heels iPad issue, it’s all about desonstructing them in the name of art.
The innovative fashion app has garnered the true spirit of re-cycling for it’s spring issue. Nelson teamed up with the RWH team and noted photographer William Brinson to create a cover with a difference that could truly be a scene straight from the New York Botanical Gardens… the only difference is, the flowers are actually made out of shoes.
Here’s a sneaky behind the scenes peek at shoe deconstruction for arts sake…
“I wanted to create a sense of fantasy and beauty to match the designs of the heels,” explains Nelson. “It occurred to me that the very concept of running in heels would lend itself to a dreamy escape where the lushness of fashion and nature could collide.”
Just as the concept of the set was original, so the iPad app continues to break ground in the fashion world.
“Our RWH Secret Garden is simply magic,” says Editor-In-Chief and iPad magazine creator Angela Gilltrap. “The confronting thing about this medium is it’s ongoing need to remain innovative.”
The new Running with Heels iPad issue is free and available to download from February 7th at iTunes.
