Señor Ceviche
Earlier this week I headed to Señor Ceviche in London’s Kingly Court for the WaR Agency summer party with a pile of intrepid bloggers who were keen to learn about the fine art of ceviche, plus a little cocktail making via the medium of the Pisco Sour thrown in for good measure.
I’d never been to this little haven of Soho before, which nestles pretty much behind Liberty London, a hop skip and a jump from Regents Street. But as you enter you’re suddenly sucked into this amazing hubub of foodie heaven with each restaurant vying to entice you in… none of which do it better than Señor Ceviche with their open plan kitchen, busy cocktail bar and fun latino vibe.
First up we learnt how to spot the perfect wine to pair with your meal… with covetable caps on offer for best student… it all got a tad competitive, but blogger Sophie Bennett from Average Janes blog took the first spoils with her encyclopedic knowledge of booze… which she later attributed to her Northern roots.
Next up we took a stab at making Pisco Sour at the cocktail bar which seems particularly easy when the pro’s at Señor Ceviche whisk you through the process, but when you’ve just swallowed (rather than spat) four different types of alcohol at the previous wine tasting workshop it’s easy to get the measurement part a bit befuddled…or was that just my attempt…?
Blogger Rhiannon Duffin of LifenStyle blog captures the action on her trusty Olympus Pen.
From there (Pisco Sour in hand) we circled round to what had to be the most popular workshop station – the ceviche making table. We learnt all about the origins and ingredients which Señor Ceviche use throughout their menus to create the delicious recipes on offer.
Before having a crack at making our own, under the safe supervision of the Señor Ceviche chef… with sharp knives and cocktails involved, you can never be too careful right?
Apparently when it comes to the perfect ceviche the secret lies in the limes…but I find a little Pisco Sour in the system also helps the creative process.
Once we’d created our masterpieces we were then treated to a feast of everything on the menu. Needless to say we were there for some time.
If you haven’t been to Señor Ceviche before then I’d definitely recommend it. They offer a fab mix of dishes which showcase the diverse flavours and cooking techniques of Peru which the team gleaned from their extensive travels around the country. From street food right through to fiery barbecue there is something for everyone at this fun spot.
With thanks to WaR Agency for the lovely summer party invite and to Señor Ceviche for my newly acquired skill set of cocktail maker supreme… roll on the summer!
