Silk panel sweaters … what to wear this weekend

Silk panel sweaters … the micro trend.

This spring it’s time to take your sweater lust up a notch or two, thanks to the arrival of a slew of silk panel sweaters in the latest drop of new items in stores and online. It’s fair to say I’m a bit of a sweater addict … my trip to the lovely Buy My Wardrobe team today to hand over pieces from a recent wardrobe purge, was merely part of an elaborate ploy to open up some space in my overly stuffed closet, so that I can now fill it up again (guilt free) with delicious sweaters for the new season.

Silk panel sweaters are the progeny of the statement sweatshirt and it’s dalliance with the sports luxe trend. They bring a certain insouciant opulence to the party, and can be dressed up or played down depending on your style needs. Thanks to the advent of silk panel sweaters, I feel my brash ‘buy one in every colour’ behaviour will be thwarted, as these babies make such a statement in themselves, there’s no need to be dithering about which colour to snap up.

Silk panel sweaters … how to wear them.

Silk panel sweaters work nicely with a bunch of spring trends. You can work your sweater with anything from your boyfriend jeans on the weekend, to your  leather pencil skirt for the office, and right the way through to an evening out, thanks to the luxe vibe it exudes.

I spied this J.Crew silk panel sweater in these lovely light pastel hues. I’ve paired mine with this great Carven tweed jacket – I love a tweed jacket for this time of year. It’s the perfect transitional piece offering you warmth in the undpredictable seasonal changes, as well as adding a touch of texture appeal to your look.

I’m smitten with Oscar de la Renta’s kitsch costume jewellery right now…especially since I spotted it on sale at The Outnet.

Finally spring always has me reaching for my penny loafers … it’s time to ditch the woolly socks and start flashing an ankle or two ladies, so man up in a pair of chunky penny loafers like these cool ones from The Office.
