Last month I hot footed it up to London to scope out the Jimmy Choo SS17 offering and can happily report that they pretty much nailed all the top accessory trends for the season ahead in one hit. If you have never invested in anything Choo then this might well be the season to do it, what with metallics, floral applique, fringing, tassels and sparkles galore, there’s something here for everyone.

The thing about trends is that you don’t actually have to invest in a head to toe outfit to nail the vibe. By picking up an accessory or two, you can segue your way through seasons without having to clutter up your closet. But when it comes to high-end luxury brands like Jimmy Choo, (if you’re anything like me), its price point means I consider it a big treat to buy and something I won’t do every day, so buying an on trend piece that’s going to run a few seasons is key.

So what are we looking out for in new season trends on the accessories front which will see us through to next winter too? Well, first up it’s all in the details. Look for embellishments – feathers, flower applique, sequins and sparkles – these kind of pieces will give a nod to this season and the next.

When investing in summer shoes ankle straps and lace up detailing are a perennial winner. As are exotic skins and anything with a twist like raffia, ruffling or fringing for that carefree boho summery vibe.

The same goes for bags – think fringe trim, 3D applique and diamante details, and you will have a classic with a twist on your hands.

One of the things I love about the Jimmy Choo brand, apart from the luxury element and the attention to detail on the craftsmanship, is the fact that you can pretty much get any heel height to suit your style. If you’re more of a Drama Diva, you can knock yourself out with stacked heels and vertiginous 110mm stilettos, or alternatively stay right in your Boho Babe comfort zone with cute gladiator flats or a block heel.
