St Barts with the girls
It’s not often I get to go on a girls trip, so when the offer came to head to St Barts with my New York gal pals to celebrate a birthday, I had signed up quicker than I can check out on Net-a-Porter… and that’s pretty quick people. I’ve been back in Blighty for 2 years but still miss those girlfriends I made back in the States – 5 years is a long time to live somewhere, so it’s not surprising that you form long lasting friendships. These days the folks I’ve met along the way are totally my global family, and I definitely jump at any chance to hook up.
Having dithered about the packing for weeks – it was all about ‘carry on only’ due to the swift turnaround between flights and the teeny tiny puddle jumper plane we were booked on – I managed to minimize my vast summer closet into some well edited looks, which would pass muster on THE resort wear island destination.
I joined up with the girls in New York and we hopped on the first plane from JFK and then clambered into the cutest little prop plane.
I’d never been to St Barts before and immediately fell in love with the colourful island vibe.
Although we didn’t do much sightseeing, I can definitely attest to the fact that we nailed a number of must-do lunch and dinner locations.
Nikki Beach for lunch – check!
Then there was all that shopping to be done….
Followed by more beach time…
Loved this wind chime courtesy of Coca-Cola empties…
Before it was time to say goodbye to paradise and head back to the city…
St Barts and other beaches … What to pack
I survived with my minimal packing for the few days we were there… granted I did add to my collection due to the awesome shopping opps, but if I was heading there or any other beach destination for a week or so, here are some of my top picks for the upcoming season…
