In the spirit of all things J.Crew this week, I thought it was about time to salute their statement necklaces. The overblown baubles around your neck trend is not going away anytime fast so why not get with the programe and embrace the trend with open arms? I saw some amazing ones at the recent Matthew Williamson press day for Spring 14 which literally had me drooling, but this season there are so many statement necklaces out there a girl is quite literally spoilt for choice.
For me the statement necklace is the perfect accessory to pimp up any outfit from day to night. If you’ve been slogging away in the office all day, or hooning around on the school run and need to pull a look out of the bag for an evening out, the simple answer is to slap on one of these babies and Bob is your proverbial uncle.

The key to pulling off the statement necklace is all about pairing down the rest of your look. Don’t start throwing on statement earrings and rings, it then becomes all too car-crash fashion. You also need to consider your proportions when rocking one of these bad boys. It’s all very well choosing some enormous in-your-face piece, but if you are on the petite side, it may well end up drowning you. Opt for a smaller version in order to ensure you are wearing the necklace and it’s not wearing you.
