Suede skirt … what to wear this week

Suede skirt … what’s in store?

suede skirt

For those of you who like a little suede in your closet, this spring you are about to be overwhelmed with sublimely soft suedes in all manner of forms, from coats to dresses, skirts and shirts, right the way through to the more obvious bags and shoes. For me a suede skirt is always a key piece, so this week I’ve popped a little edit together in some tonal hues which would work easily for the office or a lunch out with the gals.

Snagging something in this lovely fluid fabric with a 70’s vibe is super easy as many of these pieces are in classic retro colour palettes like muted browns, greens and ochres. Whilst being a tad reticent to jump helter-skelter into sporting a ton of bad old 70’s looks, I’m not averse to picking one item from my outfit and showing a nod to the trend.

Hands up how many of you have seen the press about the ‘IT’ skirt (above) by Marks and Spencer spotted on Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung?  Well, if you can’t wait for May 14th which is its official release date, there are plenty more cuties out there – this one is from Topshop.

I love this neat metallic blazer from J.Crew – I think it’s going to surpass its cost per wear figure this season. I’ve also added this sweet Isabel Marant sleeveless top which has a handy built-in waistband detail giving you a nipped in waist feel, even if, like me, you lost that waistline after the last kid popped out.

Block heeled sandals were a thing last year, they’re back to give us a sensible sandal choice this spring – thank the lord! Look for classic ankle straps or fringing to be on trend this time around. These Mango ones are definitely neutral all-rounders which will work well in your closet.

I like a bit of fringing here and there, but definitely not on my clothing – too Wild West for me, so espying this Tory Burch tote with fringing ticked the box for me. Add on this divine Maria Black finger bracelet and some neutral Ray Bans and you are off to the races.
