Summer maxi dress…what’s the scoop?
If you’re heading for a summer vacation anytime soon and getting a bit bored of all those teeny tiny summer mini dresses around, it’s time to take note of the summer maxi dress. The maxi has come of age over the past few seasons – not only because of the current resurgence of everything 70’s but also because a bunch of us are all a tad over 20 and are looking for something a little more ladylike to while away our evening cocktail hour in sunny climes. With grateful thanks to these two factors the summer maxi dress has become a key vacation piece and a ‘go-to’ little number for dressing up or dressing down during the warmer months.
For me, the maxi has to be super comfy…i.e. have lots of width in the waistband area so that I can actually enjoy that tapas and wine I’ve been promising myself all day without having to pull some kind of bizarre pilates stomach tensing moves all night… so step forward this lovely Iris & Ink shirt dress I found online at The Outnet this season.
Although I rambled on about the joys of the cotton beach dress last week as a daywear item on holiday – once the sun has gone down, there’s nothing more sumptuous (or soothing on suburnt skin) than slipping into a little silk number… just in case you forgot that factor 50.
Stella & Dot azure tassel necklace, Soru jewellery statement ring
I wore this shirt dress with my favourite Antik Batik bejewelled flats and a pile of fun jewellery – and a glass of fizz obvs!
