Ruffle statement sleeves to fall for.

I’ve become a bit of a convert to the ruffle statement sleeves trend which has crept up on us over the past few seasons. I don’t normally gravitate towards ruffle and flounce, but I’ve always been a sucker for a shirt, so when you add a voluminous sleeve to that, it pops right up on my radar.

Earlier this season we looked at statement sleeves in terms of shaping and tie detailing… you can read all about that here. But as soon as the summer offerings started dropping into store, the statement sleeve took a new twist, and we’re now looking at full on ruffle – think flamenco red dress emoji lady, and you get the idea. I fell for this Bindell top from Club Monaco while whizzing through their Sloane Square store recently, and as mine was being wrapped there must have been two or three women asking for it in their size to try… luckily my ninja shopping skills got me to the store early enough to snap mine up!

There’s something super flattering about a wrap top at the best of times – yes all of us, mid-life sorts with our thickening waists, can at last buy into a look that works for us. But when you add the ruffle sleeve, you’ve suddenly transported the outfit to bang on trend, so definitely worth adding to your outfit arsenal this summer. I paired my top with my usual J.Brand Selena crop jeans, these gorgeous Aquazzura Tropicana sandals and this super cute straw market basket from Etsy.
