WIGG Hair Salon… the makeover

You know that time of year when you’ve had a summer full of sun, sand and surf, as well as a good old dose of chlorine, and your  locks  (which were once beautiful beach hair appropro) are looking a little lackluster… well that’s just about where we are in our family. With ‘back to school’ looming, it was time to get my teen Millie’s hair under control, so where better to head than WIGG salon in Henley, home of celeb and award winning hair stylist Ryan Nicoletti-Dowd.

Having got complete hair envy from Ryan’s wife Claudia a few weeks earlier, when we were catching lunch and swapping shoe sales shopping tips, I hot-footed it right on back to Henley this week, dragging Millie along the way for a makeover with the pro’s.

The great thing about heading to the WIGG salon is that you get an hour per appointment – which means there’s more time to spend on getting the finished look cut and styled exactly the right way. Most salons punt out their clients within half an hour to forty five minutes, having that extra time is awesome… not to mention having a seriously cool stylist take control of your unruly mop.

Teen hair is notoriously tricky… mostly due to the apathy of the owner in this case. Thanks to top advice from Ryan and some great guidance on products, Millie will be able to tame her own locks from here on in.

After….

Ryan uses Joico products. I loved the Joico Instant Refresh dry shampoo. Instead of being powdery, it sprays on as an uber fine liquid which absorbs all those evil oils lurking in teen hair, and smells delicious to boot.

He also recommended a clarifying shampoo for teen hair, which is great for removing excess product build up – you know that feeling when your hair still feels greasy even after you’ve washed it? Well, turns out that’s the time to use one of these clarifying shampoo babies.
