The must-have Autumn Coat. #AD
By the time September rolls around, and the kids are in back to school mode I’m just about ready to scope out some new outfits and to figure out what my Autumn must-have list should be. Always high up on my radar is which Autumn coat I need which will hit the right fashion note.
This season luckily, for those of us who love the colour – it’s all about brown. Think any hue from camel to tan, chocolate brown to caramel and you will get the idea. Added to this the fact that you can’t beat a good classic coat, when Marks & Spencer asked me to join in on their #mymusthaves style challenge by picking one of their ‘Hero’ pieces from the new-in collection it was an easy choice for me to jump at the chance and opt for this gorgeous camel Autumn coat.
There’s something quite perfect about a single-breasted wool coat which suits all body shapes and makes the grade in the colour trend charts to boot. When your dog also matches the scene as an accessory, you know you are on to a winner.
Wool blend single breasted coat – £69
Faux leather cross body bag – £29.50
Autograph pure cashmere roll neck jumper – £89
Autograph slim leg trousers – £49.50
M&S collection block heel tassel loafer – £29.50
I also love the classic combo of camel and black in the winter. While another of my seasonal obsessions is to keep my ankles bare for as long as possible – I think its some kind of attempt at an homage to the summer just past. For me, this has all sorts of Audrey Hepburn connotations with its simple tonal look. I’ve paired the coat with a black polo neck, black trousers (with this season’s de rigueur stripe down the side… yes it’s a thing), some patent tassel loafers and an animal print belt (M&S last season) – which also gives the nod to another hot trend this AW18 whilst we are at it.
The top handle bag is also having a moment in the trend stakes, this tan faux leather cross-body bag is the perfect pairing for a tonal vibe if you are planning on working top-to-toe biscuit shades.
