Tie front shirts – trends to try

I’ve been a little over obsessed with anything tie front recently – perhaps it’s just that they’re all over the media, but there’s something quite workable about sporting one of these little cuties for work or play this season. Also thanks to the micro trend of anything knotted having a bit of a moment, this season there are plenty of pieces which have already been tied for you, thus reducing the need for you to actually employ any rudimentary sailing skills whilst trying to fashion a knot into your outfit – huzzah!

I’ve long been a fan of the tuck-your-shirt-in brigade thanks to the likes of Jenna Lyons and her J.Crew styling mantra, but the tie front trend takes this vibe and cranks it up a notch. Brilliant for leaving a comforting swathe of garment fabric behind you and covering any large derriere insecurities, you could wear these pieces with skirts, pants or shorts and still end up looking on trend.

I paired this Victoria Beckham shirt with my fave summer Current/Elliott jeans, my12-year-oldd son’s Stan Smiths, and this gorgeous Sophia Webster bucket bag.

Note the ripped hems on everything this season. If you don’t want to shell out for new jeans which come at a pretty price pre-ripped, then grab a pair of scissors and a cheese grater and get to work on some DIY denim hem shredding.
