Trench coat – what’s the deal?
For years I’ve been spending my coat investment dosh on winter coats, especially whilst braving the frozen wastes of New York for five years – that is some serious cold right there. Since being back in Blighty I’ve realized that my need for polar-vortex proofed outerwear is on the wane, and I’m more likely to be requiring a good old rainproof coat. Step forward the trusty trench coat, an oldie but goodie to have in your wardrobe armour, more so these past few seasons since the military trend has boosted it to the fore as a go-to transitional piece.
A classic trench used to be described as a loose belted double-breasted military style raincoat, these days almost anything goes. I love a trench in a neutral tone which can go with anything. This J.Crew one is a zip front version and definitely feels sturdy enough to keep the blustery and unpredictable April showers away whilst keeping you toasty warm.

The bag is Celine (from a sales scoop at Bicester Village), similar bright and zesty spring like totes here. Pointy flats are Valentino…loads of fab colours to choose from here.
Right, I’m off out to brave today’s weather – what’s your outerwear weapon of choice for these weird transitional weather days?
