I love a set of simple sunnies as much as the next girl, but for winter sun, you can’t beat a pair of geeky glasses to give your outfit that fashion edge.
Retro styles at Prada
The runways were awash with anything from Audrey Hepburn inspired bug eyes, to sci-fi visors, right through to retro cat’s eye specs. All worn with an air of arrogance that cries ‘Of course I’m wearing my shades in the house!”
The key to working a good pair of specs is to choose a flattering style for the shape of your face.
For an angular shaped noggin, opt for rounder or oval styles to soften the features.
For round face shapes the opposite rule applies, pick an edgy angular frame to break up the curves.
Once you’ve got your face shape sussed, you then need to think about proportion and coloring. If you’re on the petite side, step away from the oversized bug eyes. Conversely if you’re statuesque, knock yourself out with the owl eyes.
As a rule, any type of glasses should complement the face and not stand out, (unless you’re Elton John obvs.) If you have a pale complexion opt for tortoiseshells and lighter lenses Whilst darker skin tones can work their inner Jackie O vibe with black frames and lenses.
Of course, those of us who can’t leave the house without a little drama, rules are always made to be broken.
