Tuxedo Jacket worn 3 ways

Scoping out this season’s Tuxedo jacket

I’ve always had a bit of a thing about a tuxedo jacket and am never averse to a little borrowing-from-the-boys when it comes to styling solutions. This season along with the suit trend working its way back into our hearts and minds, we are also set to see a lot more luxe wear worn as daywear with piles of satins, silks and embellished pieces flooding into the stores. So, I’m vowing to work my silk tuxedo jacket into more of my daily wardrobe than the usual black tie event.

The tuxedo jacket is a classic yet underworked item. I’ve owned this Amanda Wakeley one for yonks and am pairing it with a pair of Tibi cropped pants (similar here by Isa Arfen), a Whistles chiffon blouse and trusty Valentino Rockstuds for a RADA gala ball I’m heading to tonight. But as I was dusting it off in readiness for another outing, it struck me that I could easily get more on the old cost-per-wear lark out of it if only I thought outside the box a bit. When sported with the right pieces, you could break out your tuxedo jacket for anything from a dressed down weekend brunch to office appropriate day wear and right the way through to that cocktail event that it was made for.

Here are 3 ways to wear it. Click the images to shop.

Tuxedo Jacket – what’s out there?

When seeking out the perfect tux, as with any jacket, make sure it fits at the shoulders. Size up if you can’t move your arms around freely and then look to getting the waist tailored to fit. If the shoulders don’t fit, the rest of the jacket looks out of proportion. See below for a smattering of tuxedo looks out there right now.
