Having trounced around London Fashion Week venues this week in all manner of weather in my lovely Prada pointy flats…yes, yes I did say I was going for the Valentinos but then these cute brogue looking Prada flats starting winking at me in Liberty London the day before the shows began, so clearly I was powerless to resist.
So back to the wishlist which has come about this week due to the impending wet weather situation ahead of us this autumn.
Being on the short end of the measuring stick, I’ve decided it’s time to find some sensible wet weather boots with a bit of a heel to add to my bar presence (which is always sadly lacking in flats).
I was also perusing my buddy Amy Smilovic’s Tibi website this week and found some awesome boots which will start my list off. The Spencer boot has a great mix of textures as well as a heel that’s not going to have you teetering over on a cobbled road or paving stones.
Next up are these dogtooth monk boots by Topshop. Yes, we are talking at least 3 trends in one here people. Those guys over at Topshop are on fire! Here you have a chunky boot, a traditional print (dogtooth/houndstooth/pinstripe etc) and a monk boot fastening = triple point trend score! Perfect for your pinstripes (see how to work it here) or your window-pane outfit which is on your hit-list already..obvs…?
Even Markus Lupfer is getting in on the game, and if anyone knows about statement items it’s this guy. Admittedly these are a little reminiscent of the quirky Miu Miu sparkly heel from a couple of years ago, but hey, a gal can never have enough glitter in her life so these make my list.
Wear them with a print pencil skirt for the office by day, then amp up the glam by pairing with a layered sheer organza skirt (like this Tibi one) by night.
Talking of Miu Miu, their cute three buckle design boot is out again this season…I bought into the blush coloured ones last season and they still have that colour – yay! Go trend-spotting me! But this season a number of other designers have followed the Miu Miu lead and come up with equally covetable and more cost effective boots. Check out these Toga Pulla beauties. Perfect for a weekend wandering up the Kings Road with your gal pals for a shopping and lunch hang out.
Finally the fashion editrix’s boot du jour, the Acne pistol boot is still a hot ticket item. This time around though opt for a metallic to catch an admiring glance. Or check out more purse friendly options from Sam Edelman and Aldo.
