Style ID – what’s the beef?
You know those days when you head into a shop with a buddy and she’s all over excited by absolutely everything in there, and you get that ‘eewh’ feeling with nothing taking your fancy at all? Well that’s because much like the different personalities we are all blessed with, we also have different style ID traits. In other words – you might be all chic-paired-down-girl-about-town kind of gal, whilst your bezzie could easily be miss-boho-beach-babe-festival-vibe gal.
There’s no right or wrong to your style ID. You can be totally all consuming one type, or a mish mash of a few, depending on which side of the bed you get out of on a particular morning. The key is to identify which traits you may have and then you can discover which stores are perfect for you, and which you need never step into again…unless you’re buying a Crimbo gift for your bezzie boho mate obvs!

Well aren’t you the Coachella-chic-chick then? If there’s a bit of fringing on anything, or a touch of floral floatiness -it has to be yours. You love natural fabrics, ikat prints and your perfect day out is walking bare-foot in the sand in your denim cut-offs with only a kimono and your floppy fedora to keep the sun off your bod.
Head to Forever 21, Anthropologie and Brandy Melville for basic pieces, if you’ve got more cash Calypso St Barth is the place for you.
Mostly B’s
You are a streetstyle fashionista and you know it. You see those other gals who are just wearing last years brogues and you just know they are so 2 years ago…it’s flatform slides right now…fools! You like nothing better than looking like you threw a look together, but it actually took you a couple of weeks to track down that key bucket bag from Elizabeth and James via Farfetch and you worry that you might have missed the next trend.
Shop at Topshop, All Saints, Warehouse and Wolf & Badger or Dover Street Market or Browns if you’re feeling flush.
Mostly C’s
You have a yen for the romanticals. It’s not all ditsy florals and delicate jewellery all the time, but you do err on the side of pretty and you’ve never met a peonie you didn’t want to immediately instagram next to your cup of mint tea.
For shopping head to Ted Baker, Reiss or LK Bennett, Orla Kiely for quirky and Kate Spade for the frivolous. Valentino and Erdem might well be your holy grails if you win the lottery.
Mostly D’s
OMG it’s a wonder you have time to have a life. You spend so much time prepping to get out the door – keeping that bod of yours rocking on all cylinders is a task in itself – but hey, the result is that all the heads in the room turn to look at you when you walk in…so it’s definitely worth all that necessary maintenance. You’re just a simple girl at heart, but you love to show off your assets – and why not – more power to you girl!
When it comes to where to snap up just the right items for your closet, you can’t go far wrong with BCBG, French Connection or Karen Millen for good quality affordable pieces. If you have more means…but not as much as KIMYE, then amp up the luxe factor by shopping at Herve Leger, Alaia or Issa.
Mostly E’s
Well, if Victoria Beckham isn’t your style icon, I don’t know who is. You believe in style rather than on-trend, you have a hankering for anything by Celine thanks to the demi-godess Phoebe Philo, and if Katherine Hepburn had still been around, you would definitely have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to her wide leg pants…or maybe you do anyway?
Your best bets for sensibly priced pieces are Zara, Cos and & Other Stories. When it comes to blowing the budget, think Stella McCartney, Tibi and Celine.
