Why a pink coat should be your next purchase.
The rise of the pink coat has finally taken on a life of its own this season. After a few early trial incarnations in the depths of the last few winters, when only the brave (i.e. people like me) were sporting this rad look and were getting weird looks from the gen public. The trend has come of age, and all our favourite high street stores and brands are offering one for spring.
I’ve always had a bit of a yen for pink (see my recent blog theme upgrade to verify that), and also am never averse to adding one more coat to my overstuffed coat closet. So for me, the pink coat thing was an early adopter no brainer. But for all those nay-sayers out there, here are a few reasons why you might find a pink coat the perfect addition to your seasonal look.
Whistles Penny double breasted coat, Bella Freud knit J.Crew silk scarf necktie, Current Elliott relaxed hem jeans, Chloe Susanna boots.
First up not only does a pink coat perk up your mood no end – hello gorgeous Maje robe coat. It can also flatter a number of complexions. Case in point see above my pasty complexion struggling in the depths of winter, benefits from a soft burst of colour from the pastel hue – welcome to my closet fluffy blush pink Whistles coat.
Pink is definitely having a moment this spring, so an easy way to pop a nod to this colourful trend is to buy one piece i.e. a coat and show off your fashion nous.
Finally, one of the best ways to buy into a trend and not have to think too much about styling your whole outfit is to invest in a coat. I learnt this trick a fair few number of fashion weeks ago – by sporting the coat of the season you could be wearing your old 90’s velour tracksuit underneath and nobody would be the wiser.
