Favourite Faux Fur Coats for Fall

Favourite Faux Fur Coats.

If you’re looking ahead to the chillier months and wondering how to get through them with a little sartorial charm, you can’t go far wrong with the new drop of faux fur coats this fall. Faux fur has come a long way from the itchy scratchy vibe from seasons past, and you can now snap up some beauties in an array of colours which are super sumptuous and soft to boot.

If I’m out shopping, (which let’s face it is quite often), I always tend to gravitate towards anything soft and fluffy. I have this inbuilt need to touch the furry stuff as soon as I see it to check its quality, and in the past have often been completely turned off by a faux fur item simply by its feel. But luckily designers and high street stores alike have upped their game for this season’s slew of new faux fur coats and produced some of the best offerings in stores for years.

I fell for this Whistles coat early on in the season as it’s in one of my favourite colour ways, and it also feels utterly divine to touch (and therefore wear). It has an oversize cut, but it’s not too large so as to dwarf a little person like me, and you have the added benefit of being able to layer up underneath it when the real cold weather kicks in. I’ve paired it here with a little double denim (yes, that’s a thing we are now safely allowed to wear) J.Crew shirt and Acne jeans. Tod’s oxblood loafers and this fab Davina Mulford fedora (you can read more about her new collection here.)

I think the fun bit about this trend this season is that you can pick a faux fur in some super bright colourways, so don’t stick to plain old black, try branching out and opting for something to brighten up those dull winter days.

Faux fur coats… where to shop

Faux fur coats are normally priced at a more affordable level than anything full-on fur, so it’s not too tricky to find something you like. Having said that the designers are playing with this trend too this season so you can completely blow your budget if you feel that way inclined (see Gucci, Stella McCartney or Prada) but for the rest of us the high street has plenty of options. Here are a few of our faves in store right now, and some of them are already on sale – huzzah! Click the images to shop.
