Goodwood Revival Vintage Inspired Style
This past weekend I spent a couple of days at one of my new favourite events – the Goodwood Revival. A celebration of all things vintage, historically it’s been a classic car fan’s dream weekend, but more recently the notion that us ladies can get involved in enjoying a little vintage style is gathering apace. With the addition of daily fashion shows in the Goodwood Emporium, it’s become super easy to indulge in celebrating vintage and vintage inspired style at this fun event.
With what seems like perfect timing in terms of AW17 fashion trends, the Goodwood Revival showcased a series of on point looks which you could easily work this season as well as take notes for outfit inspo for next years revival. From satin dresses to monochrome stripes (above) right through to military hues, boxy top handle bags and off the shoulder cocktail dresses and beyond, these shows were a perfect combination of the ‘then’ and the ‘now’ colliding.
There are plenty of champions of vintage inspired clothing out there – one of my favourites is Revival Retro in Fitzrovia run by the amazing Rowena Howie and her team. You can read more about them here. This season Rowena has created her first collection of separates which are perfect for the curvy girl and sit very well with the English Heritage/Tweed trend which is landing in stores right now.

So for the season ahead, why not take a peek at some alternative buying options. Take a break from your usual high street haunts and seek out the more unusual vintage or vintage inspired stores. There’s lots out there to be discovered, and as we all seek more sustainable lifestyles with a buy-less-be-more-thoughtful attitude a deep dive into the world of vintage might well do us some good.
