Karen Millen new season in store.
High neck chevron blouse, button-front faux-suede skirt, Regent suede and leather bag… this look is perfect if you’re looking to work the 70’s trend this season.
The summer has flown by and the new Karen Millen collection (one of my fave collections which I saw at the press days at the beginning of the summer) has finally landed in store. I know the never-ending ‘new-trend’ onslaught can be a tad daunting at the beginning of a new season, but there’s something in this collection for everyone, and if you’re looking to a nail a trend at a comfortable price point, then this is a great place to start. Here are some of my must-have picks from the new season – for those in store I’ve included a link, the rest will be dropping pretty soon.
Trend-wise… off the shoulder is still working for the upcoming season – the jumper above would work equally well for the office or with a pair of your slouchy boyfriend jeans for the weekend.
There’s a load of floral heading our way for AW16 – to keep it on trend scope out moodier prints in darker hues like this gorgeous georgette dress. It’s not quite chilly enough for the animal print faux fur – but you will need something in this print range to make it through the season as it’s going to be showing up everywhere.
The humble knit is having a bit of a moment. This knit dress with striped neck detailing scores a couple of trends in one. Also great for anyone with narrow shoulders or a smaller bust as the placement of the stripe draws all your attention upwards.
With an emphasis on sleeve details for AW16, there are a slew of new dresses which hit the spot in this collection too – perfect for feminine work attire or date night alike. Check out the 3/4 fluted sleeve on the dress above – if you want to emphasize a nipped in waistline, a 3/4 sleeve is nifty styling tip for tricking the onlooker’s eye into thinking you’ve got more of a cinch than it seems.
The great thing about Karen Millen pieces is that they’re not just for the skinny set, you can find up to a size 16 in most things. Also having heard all about the atelier where the collections are designed and created (catch another post on that here) you can be sure that fit and detailing are paramount to the process.
