The Spring Blazer you need.

If you’re looking to hurry spring along and get yourself on the path to summer, one of the best ways to make it happen is to dress like it’s already warm and sunny. Step forward the spring blazer, the perfect segue between hanging on to a few layers before it warms up enough to ditch your outer layers. You may have read my earlier post about my obsession with the super versatile Veronica Beard blazer, but this season there are also a pleasing slew of on-trend blazers to pick from which add an extra pop of East Coast prep to your outfit formula.

As blazers are having a bit of a moment right now, snapping one up that best suits your body shape is a great way to ensure that it will achieve longevity in your closet. Single breasted work best for those of us struggling to keep the old muffin top at bay or are a little top heavy – wear it open and opt for a longer length to keep hip width hidden if that’s also an issue. But if you have a neat waistline a double breasted one will enhance your silhouette, add a belt to cinch the waist and you will nail another spring trend. I love the boating blazer trim detail of this one from Massimo Dutti. The linear piping accentuates body length, and then you can spot the good old monotone dressing underneath… here’s a previous post on this neat styling trick which makes you at least feel like you may appear to be a tad taller than you are.

The white jeans… oh yes, you can pluck those out of the back of the closet for another year ladies, are AG Jeans, the slogan knit is Donna Ida. The shoes are my new season big spend from Bally and are super comfy already, and the bag from a few years ago by Sophia Webster – (a more modern version of it here). Also, the belt is from the lovely Alex at The Alex Edit (@thealexedit.boutique) – a handpicked collection of curated pieces which are well worth a visit.

Spring Blazer… where to shop.

There are plenty to choose from this spring, and I’m always a bit of a fan of coughing up more when it comes to a blazer rather than less. That way you ensure the quality is going to last you more than a few seasons and you can keep reaching for it in years to come. Opt for a classic hue if you are looking for a blazer with a long life, otherwise, why not try one of spring’s pastel hues or a bright white and add a bit of fun to your closet at the same time. Here are some of my faves out there right now… click the images to shop.
