The new Spring silk cami you need in your closet.

If you hadn’t realised by now, the 80’s are making a big come back. For those of us who remember it the first time around it doesn’t mean we have to dash out to get another awful perm and sew shoulder pads into every outfit we might own. This time around there’s a much more stylish vibe about the 80’s look, and one that I’m completely in favour of is the resurgence of the silk cami for spring.

The slip dress has been bubbling under as a micro-trend a-la Kate Moss circa 80’s for a while, but for us normal people who aren’t quite built with a supermodel structure, the humble silk cami is definitely the way to carry this trend off. We’re talking preferably silk/satin, spaghetti straps and a little lace detailing for good measure. You can snap them up anywhere, but the more you fork out, the more luxe your product for sure. Here are my top cami choices out there right now. Click the icons to shop.

If the idea of wearing your cami outside without looking like you are wearing your nightie is not that appealing, the best way to introduce this fun SS18 trend is to pop a tee underneath. Another alternative is to wear with a chunky cardi – which is also a ‘thing’ this season btw, and you can read my earlier post on that here. With your chunky knit covering your modesty it’s much easier to ooze a tiny amount of luxe sexy without feeling like a slapper… which I think is what the trend is all about.

When scouting out your perfect silk cami for spring, keep a look out for pastel hues and animal prints to be bang on trend. But if you are looking for a classic then opt for simple neutrals to keep your cami working for you in seasons to come. Here are a few more to drool over. Click the images to shop.
